I’m Madam Sparrow, the fire behind Special T Shirts, a brand born from heartbreak, healing, and a healthy dose of defiance. These designs came to life after my divorce, in that wild in-between where I stopped being the good girl who gave too much and started becoming the woman who takes up space. I like to joke that I’m a recovering people-pleaser, but really, I’m just a woman in recovery from giving away her power.

Every shirt I make is a declaration — no more shrinking, no more settling, no more pretending. When I wear them, I feel wilder and freer, I feel the strength of finally choosing myself. And now, when someone says, “No, you can’t,” I just smile and say, “The hell I won’t.” I want every woman who wears my designs to feel a spark that inspires her.

I love that something as simple as a T-shirt can start a conversation, a spark between women who’ve walked through fire and come out stronger. I imagine two strangers crossing paths, catching the words on each other’s shirts, and realizing they’re not alone. That’s the magic for me, connection through courage. I like to think of each one as a small spark that can light something in someone else, maybe a conversation, maybe just a “hell yes” she didn’t know she needed. Every shirt is a bridge, a banner, a battle cry shared between souls who remember their strength.

Before I became Madam Sparrow, I was a designer creating art that told other people’s stories. But somewhere in the middle of finding my own, I decided to do the thing that scared me — something I never thought I was capable of. As my midlife rebirth, I chose to go back to school. I did it! I graduated and became a nurse. The path from pain to purpose, from pixels to patients, taught me what real courage and strength look like. Now every design I create carries a heartbeat, a reminder that art and healing are born from the same fire.
